Water Fae

Okay, okay, I couldn't resist. The outfit is just too wonderful and I love it and want to wear it all the time, but I can't sadly....so I'm making do with blogging it and wearing it as I laze about OOC-wise. This is a new release form Wishbox that I just had to grab and I'm glad I did and now I have to share how wonderful it is.
It comes with everything: wings, ribbons, dress.

The dress is mesh and I'm using the XS.

The leg wraps are mesh, too, and I had to use the XXS. So the dress size doesn't exactly transfer to the ribbon size.
What I like about is that you only have to provide hair and other basics (maybe some more accessories if you want) and you've got yourself a fae. It also can work without the wings, which is something else I adore since I do plan to use it for my roleplay character should certain situations arise. All I had to do, really, was move the hip bows so that they were on the side lacing. Something else that was handy: the ribbons help hide the small gap between my legs and mesh feet that came form the way the pose was angled. The color is beautiful and I love the ombre effect; it also comes in several other colors, most ombre, some not.

Dress/Wings/Ribbons: [Wishbox] Whimsy (Ocean)
Mesh Feet: **NOYA** -Barefeet-Mesh-
Hair: [Anara Hair] -Talia (Dark Indigo) *Violet and Indigo pack (what I used and where the link goes) is a freebie!*

SN~ Rainy Days and Angels

I've gotten pictures for two of the poses I want to get done...so chances are I'll be blogging some more soon when I grab two people for pictures. The first one is the Raindrop prop that actually has raindrops with the tree, you even get an umbrella so you don't get too wet.

And a close-up. I just love those raindrops for some reason :)
The second one I have today is the Angel of Mine pose. It comes as an animation as well a poseball, so you can work it with what you need.
And I finally to use these wings I've buried in my inventory forever, even!

To Mesh or Not to Mesh?

The other day a friend and I were talking about mesh versus flexi hair. Now, I don't remember how the hell we got on this topic, but we did, so here I am. I tend to vouch for mesh...pretty much 100% of the time, though there are times I believe flexi to be better. My friend tends to rather flexi since...well, there's not that many good guy mesh-styles that would work for him. (Mostly he's forever in-character, except when I drag him about, so he has long hair mostly) Now, I like flexi for the merits of it moving and looking all windy and such. So it's nice for long hair at times, yes, but I usually only use it for shorter styles. And that's because I loathe it when my hair decides to go through my stomach and wave at my face. Mesh works for longer and shorter styles, but I really only want it for shorter ones or for ones that are styled in a specific way flexi can't match. Though flexi hair tied in some way, I can work with since it doesn't move about as much. Like I said, each have their merits, but I'm a bit of a mesh fangirl; clothes, hair, whatever. Really short post, I know, but...well, just felt the random want to put this. So, yes, flexi does work for some things, but other times it's frustrating. Mesh can be the same if you can't get sizing to work right and want to cling to your body shape (like I do) but otherwise it's nice. Minus how it doesn't work with some AOs if you've a mesh skirt on, sometimes even long mesh hair looks awkward as when flexi goes through you if you sit a certain way.
Only with flexi hair could I get this...messy look.

On the flip side, if my hair was flexi here, it would be going through me because of my AO.

Movie Time

So, Strawberry Singh posted a new challenge/meme/whatever you wish to call it as apparently some call it different things here. This one actually rather caught my eye...only issue was that I couldn't decide between two, almost three. So...with that in mind, I have two different ones for ya. Not sure if either has an especially good layout, but it's something at least.

Okay, I'll admit it, though, I'm a bit more proud of my bit of editing on the last one. And apparently it is useful to let your friend chase you with a knife through a maze....though she's never ever gettting a knife again. Never!

SN ~ Virtual Love and Red Rooms

Another post for Something New and, while the creator, AllysonDywer, has quite a few wonderful new ones out (like the Second Life Love prop) I have for you four of them today. I really do suggest you go and look at her marketplace or actual store as she's got some really neat props and poses. As well they are cheap, sincee she's one of the people who make stuff just because it's fun, believe it or not. And let's not forget there are usually gifts when you join store groups. So you should go buy some of her things as well as join her group. I'm not saying this just because I blog for her store, I'm saying it because it's true. I wouldn't blog for a store I thought sucked or if I thought the creator was just awful. So, until you have a look for yourself, here are a few props. :)

He may have said he thought he was in a guillotine...but, well, what is there to detach his head from?

The Green Light

The fact that I've only recently read The Great Gatsby probably has something to do with this, which is why I chose the title of this blog as I did. And, hopefully, most of you had this novel shoved down your throats in classes, college or otherwise, as I recently have so you know what I'm talking about. Or in the very least you saw the recent movie.
In any case, I've also been thinking of how, in SL, we all have our own possibly unreachable light, that goal down the river that is only invisible because of the fog. It's there, we know it is, it is why we joined Second Life, but what happens when you can't reach it? Seeing as this platform is a choice and not a must, many people just don't log in. Especially if you're new and haven't made any really friends or ahvent' found something to make you stick. To be honest, I had almost done that myself.  One day, even the roleplay going on didn't interest me as much and I didn't really have any friends to pester in IM, so, for a few months, I was gone. Maybe two months later, I came back and that's when I met some wonderful people. So I am rather glad I decided to log in again one day. Though there are people who you never hear from again, no matter how much you may like to. The sad part is that you can't be sure if it's just that they decided to not log in or if they've changed accounts or if something bad happened to them. By this time, I've been around long enough to know some who have just disappeared randomly and I can't find out the why. It's worrying, but it does happen.
But back to our green light.
Some can see it clearly and may arrive here for building, making clothes or skins, roleplaying, or meeting new people, or whatever else. Others come for some undefined reason and just decided to try to find out what that reason is. But it isn't easy to find that reason to reach certain reasons. Some are easier than others, yes, but others aren't. Though people only realize this once they've logged in and gotten bored. They reach to this goal, hoping to grasp it and do what they set out to, but they don't. Others keep going down this foggy river, looking for what their green light is. Everyone wants a purpose in what they do, but it's never easy to find it.
I know Second Life isn't for everyone and some even dont' know why others try it, but people need to stick it out if they want to actually do anything. You won't really do much within a few weeks, that's just an unrealistic expectation. (Like Gatsby's want of Daisy to say something specific which I won't say here since, if you haven't read the book or even seen the movie, you should. And I can vouch more for the former than the latter) And those unrealistic expectations can be the death of many virtual lives. It happens every day.
Somewhere in the fog is the green light we all hope to reach.
