Mesh Surgery

To keep myself from getting all bent out of shape over something small (well, more bent out of shape), I think I will write about something entirely random. Well, not entirely random. My frustration always comes at once, never in small spurts at little or big things, but all at once and usually for a little reason, which sucks...but it's how I seem to work. But it passes so long as I stop thinking over it for long enough. Writing is a sort of therapy, a distraction, whatever you wish to call it, for me. And since people are sleeping, blog-writing and/or story writing really are my only options. So...cue my rambling...
As the title says, this is about mesh. SL does have its own version of plastic surgery, only less costly and not as painful and it actually makes things look better in some cases. In other cases...well...I'm undecided. Mesh body parts in this case. A friend and I were talking about some various parts and our own opinions on them. Now, I can understand, to a certain extent, the want for them, but most of them...I don't think I would use myself for various reasons.
Mesh Feet: I like them. I use them. They look a lot less blocky than the default ones. I don't need shoes, so I'm content with these.
Slink Feet: Now, I list these on their own since they are different. The fact that they can blend a bit better to the legs and have shoes for them, is a plus, so I can understand the want of them. Afterall, they also look less blocky.
Slink Hands: Now, I wouldn't go so far as to say I caved, but moreso..it just happened for me to end up with some. How do such things just happen? They just do :P And, yes, I do like them because they do look nicer and they do blend nicely, sometimes. I say sometimes because my friend tried to match them with one of his skins...and it didn't work. Of course there was the fact, too, that there were no appliers, but still. Seems appliers may be more needed for male hands than female, at least that's speculated. Either way, I like them rather much since they are smoother and...just generally nicer. And, I also know, plenty of people already know all this, but, hey, I'm allowed to be late with this :P
Mesh Heads: I know Slink just released one and that many people are fawning over it but...I don't get mesh heads in general. You only get so many options, so your face looks the same as everyone else's. I mean, some of the expressions look interesting and there is some customization, but...still. I don't feel it with them.
Mesh Mouths: I have no words since I haven't really seen any...but I don't see the point. Isn't your mouth good enough?
Mesh Breasts: If you want a fuller look, makes sense, I guess. But...I don't' get much of the point since, unless you have a habit of running around naked, you're covered anyway. I mean, they might be good for no clothes...but with? Eh...not seeing it.
Mesh Asses: I know of two; the cute azz and the phat azz (think I spelled those right), and...even with the smaller, more 'normal' sized one...I'm not sure I see it. Okay, as was pointed out to me the shape is better than the default. But, with mesh clothes, there are few times people are wearing system layers lately. So it is not as if you really get to see it or anything anyway. I will go with there is some point, but...only so much.
I know there's also mesh eyes, but I don't think much needs to be said on those since...well, they're eyes and not a 'big', applier-needing thing. I also put them on par with hair and clothes. So, yes, those are at least a summary of my thoughts, what I can word decently, at least, on the various parts. There's more in my head and I am not afraid to change my opinions, but as it stands...only certain things seem to have reason for everyday use; hands and feet really. The hands and feet I get, but the rest...it's usually covered, so...still iffy. Probably would have to actually try and see the others but...I'm not in much of a rush to. Of course I hadn't been in a rush to try the Slink hands...and look what happened there. Though, in this case, I can blame someone for this...but blame may not be the right word, as I am happy with my new hands as strange as that sounds.

Cue the Pokemon Theme!

I've finally gotten pictures of a free mesh pokemon belt (that comes with a handheld pokeball, too!) that a friend had pointed me to for a pokemon shoot we planned to do. And we shall do it, too! I've even got the perfect outfit for it now and it's all anime-type-cartoon-thing! Yea...I should be asleep, but I had to get these pictures done. Basically everything that I have linked is free except for the eyeshadow, which is part of a makeup pack I've linked someplace before, and the hair. But the hair is a dollarbie so it's close. The pose comes in a pack that has three and it is available at ploom's Hair Fair booth, so that's only going to be there a limited time unless they make it available at their store as a gift or however. The hair, also, is at a Hair Fair booth, so best to go grab it quick. Both stores, though have some nice styles, so you might want to consider buying some of their hairs if you have the lindens. Or you could go buy from some other creator there. In any case, if you buy something from there, some of the purchase will go to Wigs for Kids. Each booth has a little sign that says how much (minimum 15%) they are donating, though some styles and such vary. And, yes, this is all very way after the opening and so close to the closing...but, well, it happens. You should still go look since the sims are probably not as crowded now.
I attached the pokeball to my left hand, but it normally goes on the right.

I'm going to find at least one; I have a lot of balls to fill.
I could barely typed that with a straight face....

Adorable pigtails + pink cheeks= stereotypical anime girl?
I really do love this hair, though. The bows are actually optional, but I had to wear them. Probably you could put different things where the bows are if you want to change the 'look' of the hair as it were, which is actually pretty nice since enough hairs won't let you take off the accessories they come with. So, anime, cyberpunk, or just random; whatever you're going for, it should work nicely.

Adventures of Berry the Bear!

Alright, today isn't so much with a free item as a place with a lot of things for taking pictures without having to buy a bunch of items. This place is called Image Essentials (linked SLurl) and has many different props and areas to take pictures in; the areas having props as well. Personally, I love it because I can use shadows and such there without having to worry about SL going 'nope *crash*'. Which is what it decided to do most of yesterday and why I couldn't do this on Friday. I think everything is against me doing it on Friday for whatever reason. So, click that link up there and head on over if you're looking for a place that has many varied places (like a dark forest, a ravine, a cottage, and different studios for groups and singles with different backgrounds and poses). It's really lovely and all that is asked is that you join the group which is free to join. There's even  monthly contest where you can possibly win some lindens if you're pictures are good enough. The pictures at the house are taken in the cottage at Image Essentials.
Now, I had to use this as a reason to show off my new mesh bear avi that I got as a gift from a friend. I love it so very, very much. It's very customizable in color of fur, backpack color, pen color, if you want the glasses and/or back pack on, and don't forget size. It goes form XS to uber and uber is...well, uber. Very much so. The type of bear you don't want hugging you because it might accidentally squish you. But, I put the XS on, changed it to a blue bear and went on my merry way. And that is how Berry's adventures began.
First Berry decided to go to the store. He had to get close to see how fresh the watermelon was.

He didn't want fruit. And when he saw the candy display, he had to buy it out.

He also found the pie display. Apparently this little blue bear has a sweet tooth.
After wandering, he found a house. And inside were cupcakes!

Yum!
Berry then found some pictures. Too bad he's too short to see them all that well.
It was getting late, so he decided to go eat his pie.

And since the house was lacking a bed, the little blue bear took out a towel and slept on that.
After taking his backpack and glasses off, of course.
I seriously love this bear. And, now that i think of it, he's a mix of my two most favorite stuffed animals, one that I still have. His name is that of my little teddy bear and he's blue, like a giant blue bear I used to have. Hm...actually he can even be the same size as that... That's something I'll have to keep in mind. Until next time on: Berry's Adventures! Who knows what this bear will find (and what sweets he'll eat)!

Positively Yellow, but Far From Scary

I just now am remembering that yellow is generally the color that represents fear, so I suppose it is actually fitting that the two freebies for today are yellow since I just did the fear meme earlier. Funny how things work out, isn't it? Well, thankfully the items aren't all that scary and lean more to the pretty aspect. As there is no need to fear, let's get on with the first freebie, shall we?
The dress part isn't edited, so what you see is how it looks.
I actually found this dress from clicking something that looked pretty (that I can't afford, obviously) and following the link to the store. This dress from Envious Creations is mesh, so it has an alpha and come sin multiple sizes: I used the XS, so my guess is that it follows standard sizing even though it doesn't exactly say that. What I love about it is the subtle block pattern. Personally I don't usually like dresses with cubes for the pattern (or yellow as a color for that matter), but this one is done well and the small white band is a nice addition that keeps the dress from being too singular in color. I think this is a nice retro-ish style freebie that just fits for summer. As well, form what I've seen, the rest of the designs from this creator are worth a look.
This makeup I've had in my inventory since I found the skin from last week and I thought it just worked with the dress because of the yellow in it. This is from the same creator who made last week's skin, Natural Beauty. Now, this eye shadow is in a pack with eyelashes as well...but I'm not one to really use lashes as well they are rather primy. So I'm just sticking to the eye shadow for now.I think it's nicely done and, if you have something with yellow as the main color, it can give your look a little extra something. A bit more eccentric/fantasy type of eye shadow, yes, but nice none the less. Besides, Second Life is generally eccentric or fantasy based, so who would much judge? I also have to say i like the little white dots that ray out from the eye. I don't know why, but they're only a single line whereas the green and yellow have more; it offers  a nice balance.

Water Fae

Okay, okay, I couldn't resist. The outfit is just too wonderful and I love it and want to wear it all the time, but I can't sadly....so I'm making do with blogging it and wearing it as I laze about OOC-wise. This is a new release form Wishbox that I just had to grab and I'm glad I did and now I have to share how wonderful it is.
It comes with everything: wings, ribbons, dress.

The dress is mesh and I'm using the XS.

The leg wraps are mesh, too, and I had to use the XXS. So the dress size doesn't exactly transfer to the ribbon size.
What I like about is that you only have to provide hair and other basics (maybe some more accessories if you want) and you've got yourself a fae. It also can work without the wings, which is something else I adore since I do plan to use it for my roleplay character should certain situations arise. All I had to do, really, was move the hip bows so that they were on the side lacing. Something else that was handy: the ribbons help hide the small gap between my legs and mesh feet that came form the way the pose was angled. The color is beautiful and I love the ombre effect; it also comes in several other colors, most ombre, some not.

Dress/Wings/Ribbons: [Wishbox] Whimsy (Ocean)
Mesh Feet: **NOYA** -Barefeet-Mesh-
Hair: [Anara Hair] -Talia (Dark Indigo) *Violet and Indigo pack (what I used and where the link goes) is a freebie!*

To Mesh or Not to Mesh?

The other day a friend and I were talking about mesh versus flexi hair. Now, I don't remember how the hell we got on this topic, but we did, so here I am. I tend to vouch for mesh...pretty much 100% of the time, though there are times I believe flexi to be better. My friend tends to rather flexi since...well, there's not that many good guy mesh-styles that would work for him. (Mostly he's forever in-character, except when I drag him about, so he has long hair mostly) Now, I like flexi for the merits of it moving and looking all windy and such. So it's nice for long hair at times, yes, but I usually only use it for shorter styles. And that's because I loathe it when my hair decides to go through my stomach and wave at my face. Mesh works for longer and shorter styles, but I really only want it for shorter ones or for ones that are styled in a specific way flexi can't match. Though flexi hair tied in some way, I can work with since it doesn't move about as much. Like I said, each have their merits, but I'm a bit of a mesh fangirl; clothes, hair, whatever. Really short post, I know, but...well, just felt the random want to put this. So, yes, flexi does work for some things, but other times it's frustrating. Mesh can be the same if you can't get sizing to work right and want to cling to your body shape (like I do) but otherwise it's nice. Minus how it doesn't work with some AOs if you've a mesh skirt on, sometimes even long mesh hair looks awkward as when flexi goes through you if you sit a certain way.
Only with flexi hair could I get this...messy look.

On the flip side, if my hair was flexi here, it would be going through me because of my AO.
