A Proud Procrastinator

Okay, so, I was clicking around and...stumbled upon this. I know, I said that the picture blog was coming up next...but..my next well... I'm a procrastinator, so things never tend to happen when I say they will. But I am working on it. I've already got a picture for Juliet, Cinderella, and I'm working on Alice, Ariel, and Belle. Might even get a Silence pic if I can drag one of my friends someplace and force black angel wings on him. ;) I'm still all open for suggestions, even, but...I'm broke so I'm improvising with freebies and other such things I've found buried in my inventory.
Right, but what I stumbled on was a meme-type-thing for, what else, procrastination. As I've said that is something very near and dear to my heart. So, first, just click here for a link to the blog post by Strawberry Singh that started it off. And, well, now here's my answers...well, no, a picture first.

  • What is the rez date for your current SL Avatar that you use most often?
That would be Haisley who was first rezzed...August 11, 2011.
  • Where was the first place you made friends as a newb and got to know people in Second Life?
Oh boy....um.... Well, first place that comes to mind is the RP sim I'm at most often but... Right, first place was, odd enough, a freebie store... I think Freebie Galaxy. A weird place to make any friends, but, hey it worked.
  • Where do you spend most of your SL time now?
That would be at a RP sim called Cadair Braeden. That's not that surprising seeing as I've got some people I love to death OOC that RP there. (Yes, I'll admit, once or twice I've ICly wanted to push them in a river....even though one is a very big dragon...)
  • Who is your closest friend in Second Life? (only pick one)
I can't choose, but I can say two, instead of one. That's...close enough, right? Right. Salix Southpaw and Taeem. I love them and pester them in IM often enough I'm pretty certain they know that.
  • What is the most favorite thing in your inventory? (only pick one)
Again, I can't choose! Guess I'm an indecisive procrastinator... Anyhow, it's either the Capture hair by Magika (that changes colors!) that I use both IC and OOC or...the Morgana necklace that comes with the Morgana dress by ViGo.
  • The last thing you purchased in Second Life?
Purchased makes me think lindens...and I haven't used lindens in forever. Everything I get is usually free. But the last thing I actually spent something on....would be my skin. Harmony-07 by Delish....but that was back when the stuff there was dollarbies and I could afford it. :P But the last thing I actually got is Baby Blue Polka Dot Hair bow FallenDoll Designs.
  • What color clothing does your avatar wear most often?
Hrm...well, usually different shades of blue. Which just so happens to be my favorite color, pure coincidence, I'm sure.
  • Do you prefer to walk, run or fly?
Walk. If i try to run I'll end up who knows where thanks to lag and...flying is just as, if not more, hazardous for me.
  • What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done in SL?
Crazy? I'm not that much of an interesting person with action, but, maybe going onto a virtual roller coaster called 'The Spider' that I was pulled to by Salix? I think that counts as I wouldn't even get within ten feet of a roller coaster in RL.
  • Who would you like to play YOU, in the movie of your SLife?
Well, that would require either a blonde and a brunette or someone who would wear a wig... Ah, but in either case I've honestly no clue. Maybe it's in part because I don't pay attention to actresses and such, but...still, no clue.

Now, seeing as I've got that done...I should probably sleep. yes I even procrastinate with sleep, being the night owl I am. So goodnight or good morning or however and I'll get the story pictures and such up soon. Promise!

Cheers for Easter!- Something New

So, Something New has got some new things and a couple of them are pretty neat. Well, actually I liked them all, to be perfectly honest, but I'm a friendless- Ah, no, that's wrong, all my friends in SL are just people who are over in Europe and were asleep when i took these pics. Actually I should've been asleep with how late I did this myself, but...well, I'm not that sensible. But there was a version of the Easter prop which is for couples (aww) but I had to do the single's one as well as there was another couple one and a friends one.
Seeing as SL was deciding to be mean, I couldn't get the bunny ears and tail I wanted to use. So sad about that...but, here's the poses anyhow for the single's Easter Bridge prop. I think they're kind of cute. Also something worth note: I'm short by SL standards (5 foot something) and I had really no issue with really all of the poses, so that's a plus for all you other shorties out there who have issues with say...danceballs and other such things.

Sexy Stand
Ground Sit
All these? Mah eggs!
Sit
Aw, doesn't the chick look so happy? And it's not running from me!
Lean
Waiting for Easter to actually get here.

Again, SL was mean to me so i couldn't have pom-poms for the cheer poses. I decided to have impromptu pom-poms... I think they work, at least as magical energies balls, no? The pictures include both cheer pose sets.
Cheer Set 1, Pose 1
Powerful energy balls and...helicopter spin maybe?
Pose 2
Pose 3
Weee! Didn't know I could jump like that.
Pose 4
Pose 5

Set 2, Pose 6
Pose 7
You know, I tried for a cheer team once...this type of thing is one reason why I didn't get in.
Pose 8
Pose 9
Pose 10
Cheers for new Something New poses!

I'm Official Now!

Yes siree-bob, I'm a blogger for something other than my own randomness now. Yay! So, basically what that means is that the shop (Something New) will be getting at least one blog a month....or whenever there are some new props and poses to poke at. That also means more pictures *nods* And, let's face it, who doesn't love pictures? In an ever changing world like SL, pictures can become important as well as not so much.
Pictures in SL capture memories as much as they do in RL, even if the people in the pic don't look the same the next day, it's still a memory. The simple fact that things can change so quickly, is what makes the pictures even more important. Not to mention you can make some really great things with just the windlight (something that changes how the lighting is, basically, for you non-SL users) and poses and props and all sorts of stuff available across the virtual world. You don't even have to use the best graphics to get some really amazing pictures, which is something that I tend to stick with as I personally can only get to medium settings. But I'm not saying that just because I can't go to high or ultra, it's because it's true. Sure, it might edge more to 'realistic'-ish with higher graphics or might look nice, but that doesn't take away form what you can do with your lower settings. (not to mention the reduced lag which allows movement)
You don't even need lindens with all the free stuff on MP (marketplace). Hell, I've gotten quite a few free poses I love and have used. Then there's also the avi-look, lots of free stuff for that. so, really, anyone who can use SL and manage the camera to get in the right angle, mess with the windlight, and who has some patience, can take decent (if not very good) pics in SL. So don't be discouraged if your pics suck originally (I know mine did and I'm not even saying I'm amazing now, just better), keep trying and I'm sure you'll get it. :)

It works! Finally!

I don't know why, but everytime I have tried to add a picture, the bloggy-thing has been mean. But it's working now so...here's some pictures. :D

See more here (that's my Flickr) (and by more, I mean a lot more). So, yes, I've been a busy bee with photo taking and I've gotten some pretty good ones lately. This is mostly just a catch-up, but it's also a lead into what will be my next blog: a photo blog with different stories, plays, etc. as the center. So, once I get all the pics I want, I'll upload the blog and there ya go. If anyone has any suggestions for pictures is should do for the next blog, leave a comment, and I'll see what I can do.

Holidays

Well, before I get to the more serious part of this post, I'm going to get all the lighter stuff out there first.
So, the holidays are quickly approaching and there was no end of the world. Again. This makes...what? at least ten ends that everyone born by at least 2000 (more if you were born before that) survived. So...yea, expect absolutely everyone of those people who thought the end was coming and were shouting 'the Mayans were right!' to now be saying they never, ever believed it.
Though this makes me want to go run out into the street and yell 'the Mayans were wrong!' But...I won't, much too shy for that. :P (not to mention they weren't wrong, they were just killed off before they could finish their calendar *nods*)
Yep, just sleeping away the 'end' of the world all comfy cozy.

But back to the things that will actually happen. Christmas and the new year. I'm hoping that, for everyone who celebrates Christmas, or Christmas along with other holidays, got all their shopping and decorating done....or, if you're like me, are quickly working on finishing your holiday shopping. As for the rest of you who celebrate Chanukah, Kwanzaa, solely without the addition of Christmas, hopefully you're doing well with setting up for those. Or, for the Yule/Winter Solstice celebrators, I hope you had a good one last night.
Here's a pretty, sparkly holiday tree.
The New Year, though...well I'll probably just post a blog later with a bunch of pictures for it. :)
But the thought of the new year, makes me think of the main part, the serious part, of this blog that I will now get to: drinking and driving.
Over here in the US, not sure about other places, there are endless public service ads about drinking and driving. All with the same message, don't do it. Drinking and driving can have horrible results. Sure, you might get lucky and not crash or hit someone, but what if you did? you'd have to live with the guilt and the lawsuits and the person's friends and family would have to deal with the loss, that's assuming that the person gets killed and not just injured. But there would still be lawsuits for the person who hit them.
Then there is the plain fact that you could get hurt or killed yourself. So the best bet would be to find a designated driver and, also, to not let yourself get int eh car with a drunk person. If you and your friends and family are out drinkin, do not let them drive drunk. I know, i know, that's said over and over again, but it's true. You shouldn't just let someone drive off after drinking.
So, be extra careful if you're driving on the holiday nights, since there will be some people that did drink and are driving, but don't let yourself (or someone you know) be one of them. I hope you all will have a wonderful holiday, whatever you celebrate.
And...for those of you who might read this and suffered through the Sandy Hook tragedy, I hope your Christmas and New Year won't be too weighed down by your loss. I know this will be a hard holiday season, but try to get through it. I know you will never forget your child or friend or whoever but it's bound to get easier as time goes on. But, for now, I hope you can enjoy your holiday as best you can.

Periigu sends love (without the chewing of boots) to everyone this season.
Ayla does as well, not to mention extra cuddles.

OOC vs. IC

I had to write about this because...well a few days ago, some IC stuff got brought OOC and really pissed me off.
There's generally an unspoken rule, sometiems written in some places, that OOC stays there and IC stays IC. it is different then trying to keep SL and RL separate, which is not what I'm talking about and that has many different ideas on it and such. When you're IC, you are playing a character, not yourself, if you want to go be yourself, don't go RPing. yes, you can make a version of yourself IC but that doesn't mean you are your character. No, just no.
Yes, people are generally on good terms if their chars are in a relationship, at least in my experience. Though I don't think it would make sense for people to dislike each other OOC and be in a relationship, even not romantic, IC.
But I'm talking not about that so much as just...general things. Okay, a character messes up, doesn't do something, doesn't know how to do something even if you think they should, why are you going to get pissy at the typist? That's just how the character is you can't help that. All the typist has to do is type what the character wants to say and do, too much OOC interference ruins it. Sure, OOC does affect IC to some degree, but it should not be the other way around.
If you're upset, go yell at the person ICly not go and IM to let them know that you're upset with the person behind the keyboard for what the character did. I mean, really, this isn't like a puppet, it's more like acting. Is it at all logical to get mad at the actor for what the character they play does? No, not all. They're reading lines, going with the emotions the character feels, doing what that character would do. They are not them at the time.
Sure, it might not come natural to some people to think like that...but, at least hold back whatever you want to IM or whatever and think and remember. Sure, you might still be upset OOC, but try not to go bother the other person OOC-wise.
Okay, rant over. But I figured I'd talk about the difference while using some own..personal experience. And, thankfully, i managed to keep all this in my head while IMing the person in question as to not stir up anything...which, again, some people need to learn to do.
Now, I'm really done, i swear. :)

Evil, Evil Timezones

Odd enough, this is one of the topics me and one of my friends in SL get on often, seeing as he's over in Europe someplace and I'm in the US...so that makes for tons of fun.
But that's the thing about SL, it can be difficult to meet up with people or hang around/RP with people then they are way over there someplace. Yes, SL provides a medium for meeting the people over there someplace, but it doesn't get rid of the fact there's the pesky RL that you have to attend to. Which, yes, does include sleep. I have a tendency to be often reminded of this when I'm running around in RP or just chatting with some people, since most of the people on my friend's list somehow manage to be in Europe and such. So that's a lot of hours difference.
Though i do have to say that two of the people i spend most of my online time with...they can manage to stay up rather late. Which I think is just awesome since it actually allows me to IM/RP/whatever with 'em. So...yay!
Of course there's more than sleep added to timezone issues, too. And that would be work and school and family and friends and all the stuff that makes life, well, life. No, of course you can't just get rid of that stuff (you'd probably regret if if ya did) but that does mean you might miss someone who gets online. But, that's okay, because there is this wonderful thing called 'anotehr day'. Yes, yes there might be something you wanted to drag someone (by that I mean TP..though I do managed to get 'dragged' a lot...so maybe i mean dragged too :P ) to show that day specifically, but...while SL is forever changing, there are some things that you can still show some other time.
Basically, yes, timezones can be very evil in the fact everyone can't be working on the same time and someone might have to sleep when you've got hours to go, but...that's the thing about the Internet. Timezones stick around, but the space creating those zones? They're all but erased.
